Early Years

Curriculum

Early Years

The Early Years Foundation Stage covers the first two years at school between 3 and 5 years of age.

At Laude San Pedro International College, we encourage close relationships between teachers, students and parents so that our children feel safe, valued, and protected. Through the seven areas of learning, children develop language and personal, social, and intellectual skills whilst exploring their environment and emotions:

  • Personal, social, and emotional development

  • Communication and Language

  • Physical development

  • Literacy

  • Mathematics

  • Understanding the World

  • Expressive Art and Design

Primary

At Primary school, we provide the most secure foundations from which each child can fulfill their potential, both academically and within their personal wellbeing.

  • We follow the British National Curriculum from Years 1-6 (from 5 to 11 years old) which focuses on children’s developmental readiness for learning, building and extending their knowledge, and developing their social and emotional skills.

  • From Year 1, our students will study Spanish as a second language. And from Year 2 upwards, they can select either Chinese, German or French so they develop an additional world language.

  • Students who need additional learning of English may take our Cambridge English Programme for additional support.

Secondary

Secondary students not only consolidate their academic skills and competences, but also learn to make decisions based on their skills and passions. From the age of 12, students can choose to follow the British national curriculum or continue with the Spanish curriculum.

  • In the first two years of the Spanish ESO curriculum, 65% of the subjects are in English. The last two years are reduced to 30%.

  • Our ESO students can obtain the various Cambridge English certificates and study French or German as a third language up to the 2nd year of Bachillerato.

  • We offer an extended curriculum, a wide range of creative and technological subjects to help them discover their personal vocation.

  • We prepare students for GCSE examinations.

A Levels

To ensure that our students become global professionals. This is the ultimate educational goal of all the teachers and support staff at Laude San Pedro International College and is of particular importance at the A Levels and Baccalaureate stage.

  • As at the Secondary stage, students can choose to follow the British National Curriculum or continue with the Spanish curriculum.

  • We prepare students for the AS-Level and A-Level examinations, which give them access to universities around the world.

  • Spanish Baccalaureate students take 30% of their subjects in English.
